The archetypal Porsche! A (certainly for its time) fast coupé with maximum pressure on the driven wheels. Thanks in part to its low weight, it was immediately competitive in just about all motorsport classes. Eventually, the 356 evolved until the arrival of the illustrious 911, which still used the same concept, only with 2 more cylinders. The Porsche 356 B differed from the A model mainly in that it had higher headlights and a less rounded front wing line. The bumpers also became higher, allowing air intakes in the front apron for the new alloy drum brakes. However, the cw value did increase somewhat. The first series of the 356 B was sold as the BT5 and later succeeded by the BT6, which already had almost the specs of the 356 C.
This fully rally-ready 356 BT5 is a car with proven experience over the past seventeen years in, among others, the Tulpenrallye, SLS Classic, Tour Ecosse, Coppa d'Europa and countless other events. First registration was in the USA on 28 February 1960 and it was then a standard 1600 Super with a 60hp engine (type 616/1) and Reutter Karosserie (no 113078) in the colour Fjord Gruen. The Dutch registration number DL-08-66 was issued on 15 October 1994. Since 2006, various modifications have been carried out by Porsche specialists for rallying, such as a full roll cage, three-point harness, lowered and adjustable bucket seats, Belmog tripmaster and Halda speedpilot, Cibié Super Oscar high-beam headlights, sump guard, sports exhaust (2021), electronic 123 ignition, 12-volt battery (minus pole ground), front disc brakes, Vredestein Quatrac-5 185/65HR15, Nardi sports steering wheel and white striping on body to finish it off. The body received several partial restorations. First by Porsche Specialist Kraan in 2006 (bottom and battery box) and later by 356 specialist Siemerink Porsche Restoration Specialist who sealed and tightened the entire bottom, wheel arches, mudguards, body and petrol tank in 2010 and 2013. The engine was rebuilt in 2010 and again in 2014 by Maarten von Balluseck (Track Automotive) and Gerard Nol (Siemerink). Cylinders and piston rings were replaced in 2019. Venturi and nozzles of the Zenith 32 NDIX carburettors were upgraded for extra power by BAS Autoservice in Lichtenvoorde. This brings the power output to 87 hp, measured on the roller dynamometer by Jaap van Wuijkhuijse (Speed Centre Geldermalsen).
