A Porsche Cayman always guarantees driving pleasure, but in the S version, the Cayman becomes all the fun. We dare say that the Cayman S is a better driver's car than many a sports car (from the same stable...) with a higher price tag. This particular example comes from the third owner and is equipped with the Sport Chrono package and PASM, among others.
With the second generation Boxster, Porsche also introduced a version for non-cabrio enthusiasts: the Cayman. With this, Porsche had a two-seater coupé in its range for the first time in a very long time. Normally, the convertible version is more expensive, but Porsche positioned the Cayman above the Boxster in terms of price.
The Cayman had a unique profile, thanks to the flat sloping fastback rear end. This distinguished the Cayman not only from the Boxster, but also from the 911. With its mid-engine layout, the Cayman also distinguished itself technically from its bigger brother.
Thanks to this layout and the acclaimed chassis, the Cayman is already a very entertaining car at base. This one is even more fun because here we are dealing with a Cayman S from after the facelift. That means the atmospheric boxer engine produces a whopping 320 hp. That's 25 hp more than the pre-facelift Cayman S and 55 hp more than the Cayman without the S.
Among other things, the MK2 is distinguished by: a standard six-speed gearbox. Furthermore, the design has been refreshed, with a smoother front bumper, different headlights plus taillights and two round exhaust tailpipes. By the way, the facelift version is not only better, but also a lot rarer than the pre-facelift version.
This particular example is finished in Basalt Schwarz. For the extra sporty edge, the car is equipped with the Sport Chrono package and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), among others. At the same time, with cruise control, seat heating and electrically adjustable sports seats, this Cayman S is also great as a daily driver.
The car has over 210,000 km on the odometer, but the engine has run less. It was replaced under warranty by Porsche at 58,676 km (see service history).
Our opinion
The Cayman has always stood somewhat in the shadow of the 911. That while the Cayman with its mid-engine is actually the better driving car of the two. Even in base trim, a Cayman just drives brilliantly, this S trim with Sport Chrono throws that even further. Manual transmission, lovely! You can hardly get more Porsche for your money....

Notes
The Cayman has signs of use commensurate with age and mileage and overall still looks very clean. In October 2023, the car was polished and provided with paint protection (ceramic coating). In addition, the headlight units were made clear again and the interior was given a leather treatment (Van der Gugten). In September 2024, a completely new headlining was fitted (Van der Gugten). Just under 10,000.00 euros of maintenance has been carried out in the past 3 years!

Michel is a car enthusiast, but also a driving enthusiast. In particular, the driving experience in the Cayman S is at a high level. This is what he was looking for in a ‘fun car’ to go with it. He already knew the Collectables website and there he came across this Cayman S. Given the car's complete equipment, the deal was then quickly made. After almost three beautiful years, it was time for a worthy successor. The chances are pretty high that this will be a 981.
