Another black 996.2 GT3?! Hell yes. Good examples are good to follow. This time one for the collection, because with only 72,500 km and without a roll cage or track history. A 911 GT3 Touring avant-la-lettre with a more luxurious interior. This Dutch Porsche 911 (996.2) GT3 was delivered by Porsche Rotterdam (Hoogenboom) in June 2003 and is in very good condition.
The Porsche is an original and damage-free copy of the most extreme 996 model. In black and with the right options (air conditioning, radio and the beautiful leather Recaro racing seats). The last owner owned the car for 5.5 years and drove only 1,500 km in that period. The interior of this GT3 has the right mix between racing and comfort. Except for 2 small scrapes on the bumpers, this car is "factory new". Under the hood, the 3.6L derived from the famous Mezger racing block with 381 hp. The mileage is demonstrably at 72,500, the complete history is present, which shows that maintenance has never been saved. Because little has been used with the Porsche in recent years, the owner has it checked again before delivery to Porsche specialist Visser.
This is a second generation 996 GT3, easily recognizable by the redesigned headlights and horizontal rear spoiler (the first generation had a "curl"). Six-piston calipers were fitted to the front axle and power increased to 381 hp. In total, 2,313 of these 996.2 GT3s were built. The Porsche madness has subsided somewhat at the moment, making early generations of GT3 now affordable for a slightly wider audience.
The Porsche 996.2 is increasingly getting the recognition it deserves. It is mainly the steering, the handling and the sound that distinguishes this GT3 from other 911s. Already after 500 meters you feel that this is something special due to the low sitting in the Recaros and the raw sound of the extremely strong racing block. Recently, the new Porsche 911 (992) GT3 was introduced. The factory drivers recognize that this was actually the first true GT3, giving them free rein and laying the foundation for the successful 911 GT3 range.
