Can I set the minimum sales price ('reserve') for my Collectable?
Absolutely. It is your car after all, so it is your call to define which amount is satisfactory to you. Prior to listing the car, we will jointly discuss this subject in detail and decide on a fair and realistic reserve price for your Collectable.
In order to put some boundaries around this discussion, you can think of the following:
- Your Collectable is probably worth more than what you would get in return for it when sold to a dealer or specialist without buying back another car.
- Your Collectable is probably worth less than what those dealers or specialists would list it for in their showroom. Because that showroom, possibly even with the mandatory Corporate Identity, their staff, any warranty, certain discounts, the traded-in vehicle and the delivery service all need to be paid somehow. Understandably, this is factored into the sales prices that are advertised. And don't forget that these are asking prices after all, which means that the actual sales prices will be (quite considerably) lower than the advisered ones.
Do you want full certainty that your Collectable will be sold to a new owner by the end of the auction? Listing your car without a minimum sales price (the 'reserve') ensures this. This means that the car will be sold to the highest bidder, irrespective of the level of that bid.
When your car is listed with a 'reserve', it is possibly to lower this 'reserve' during the auction process at any time.
