The Audi RS6 C6 Avant is practical, comfortable, and stylish as well. Especially in this Mugello Blue Pearle. With a biturbo V10 and 580 hp under the hood, it is the ultimate wolf in sheep's clothing.
The design of the Audi RS6 has become more and more muscular over the years. It is no longer a wolf in sheep's clothing. But the RS6 of the C6 generation still is exactly that. By contemporary standards this is a discrete car. The differences with a normal Audi A6 Avant are fairly subtle.
The powertrain of the RS6 C6 is anything but modest. Under the hood lurks a mighty 5.0 liter V10 with two turbos. This makes the RS6 C6 Avant part of a very select group. The M5 E61 Touring and RS6 C6 are the only V10 station wagons ever produced.
The power output of the RS6 is even more impressive than that of the M5 Touring. The BMW delivers 507 hp and 520 Nm of torque, the Audi produces no less than 580 hp and 650 Nm and has much more lazy, low rev grunt. And thanks to the famous Quattro system, these enormous amounts of power and torque can still be controlled.
The beauty of an RS6 is that you have a very practical and comfortable daily driver with this car. You have all the equipment you could wish for and plenty of space. The (adjustable) suspenion is stiffer than in a normal A6, but it's still a comfortable ride.
The Audi RS6 is not a 'look at me' car, but there are enough modifications by which you can recognize an RS6. The front bumper, for example, the flared wheel arches, the mirror caps and of course the exhausts. It may be a wolf in sheep's clothing, but the enthusiast will see (and feel) right away that this is not your average station wagon.
This example is finished in the stylish colour Mugello Blau Perleffekt. With a glass sliding roof, adaptive cruise control, BOSE audio and heated seats at the front and rear, among other things, you'll have nothing to complain. The car was imported from Luxembourg in 2012 and it currently has covered just under 180.000 km.
Our opinion
Every family man has thought about these from time to time. Such an incredibly fast, not entirely responsible but oh so tasty station from AMG, RS or M. At the same time the dilemma. They're actually too pretty (and pricey) for everyday use, especially with little muddy feet in the backseat. And by the time they get affordable, they're worn out. No longer original, overdue maintenance (because they may cost less than half to purchase, maintenance with original parts will still cost the same).
Of the aforementioned list of Über Stations, the RS6 remains the most responsible choice. Understated, stylish and with a decent automatic. Turbos for torque at the bottom revs and a not so stiff suspension. At the same time, you still see (and hear, but most importantly feel) that it is something special. And the 'complaint' that everyone can drive fast with an Audi RS6 seems more like a recommendation to us...
Those looking for the ultimate mile-muncher can be very happy with this wolf from Ingolstadt. An honest car with a tidy owner. In terms of looks it's not factory new (but for an 'as new' model you pay double) and therefore ideal for daily use.
