The Cayman still is one of the best compact sports cars on the market. With a naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine and perfect weight distribution, everything works and feels just right. This specific Cayman with manual gearbox was originally delivered in the Netherlands and fitted from factory with the great looking 19-inch Carrera S II rims.
With the second-generation Boxster, Porsche also introduced a coupe version: the Cayman. The Cayman got a unique profile, thanks to the flat-sloping fastback rear. And where the open version is normally more expensive, Porsche placed the Cayman above the Boxster.
With the mid-engine layout, the Cayman also follows a different technical path than its bigger brother. This layout and acclaimed chassis made the Cayman a highly entertaining car from the start. This example is from 2009, so it's a facelift model.
This means, among other things, that the boxer engine measures 2.9 litres instead of 2.7. Thus, it delivers 265 hp and 300 Nm, which is 20 hp and 27 Nm more than before the facelift. In terms of design, the facelift model has also been upgraded. The bumpers have been given a more fluid design, the headlights and taillights have been renewed and the diffuser has been adjusted. In the interior there is a more modern and attractive steering wheel and the center console was finished in black.
This specific Cayman has a six-speed manual transmission and is finished in Basalt Black with 19-inch Carrera S II wheels. A set of winter tires with original 17 inch Porsche rims are included.
It is an original Dutch car, comes from the third owner who has owned the car for 7 years. It currently has 154,000 km on the clock.
Our opinion
We keep repeating ourselves ('connoisseurs choose Cayman') and both in terms of fun per euro and in terms of driving characteristics, this is perhaps the better choice than a 911. With its mid-engine, a Cayman also drives brilliantly in the basic version. With a manual gearbox, delicious!
But we've noticed that since we've started The Collectables a year ago, we are also starting to put Caymans on our wishlists more and more. Reasonably accessible, they drive like a real Porsche (or even better), hardly any depriciation and the Cayman will be a fully electric one if we are to believe the rumors. So buy one while you still can...
