A 2020 Mini John Cooper Works with only 15,000 km. The composition is exactly as it should be. To begin with, the color Rebel Green metallic, which is only available on a John Cooper Works. A very dark green color which almost appears to be black. Only when the JCW is parked in the sun does the green metallic paint really come into its own. Over the hood two black stripes, with red edges, to further emphasize the sportiness. The red accents also reappear in the grill, brake calipers and the John Cooper Works logo. To complete the look, the MINI is equipped with a black roof, black mirror caps and privacy glass. Visually alone, this JCW exudes sportiness.
The interior is also loaded with options. Think: Harman Kardon, panoramic sliding-tilt roof, Head Up Display, Apple CarPlay and much more.
Under the heading ''Equipment'' is the complete listing.
While many MINI's are listed as a ''John Cooper Works'' on the net, it is often a ''normal'' Cooper, or an S, which is only optically a John Cooper Works.
Here it is (fortunately) a purebred JCW version. So 231 hp, a sporty exhaust sound and an incredibly sporty handling. Delicious, isn't it?
The current (2nd) owner bought the MINI from an official MINI dealer in the Netherlands. Here the MINI was briefly used as a demonstration vehicle. In short, a Dutch, bright and genuine MINI from the second owner.
The Mini Cooper used to be a sporty version of the Mini based on the standard Morris designed by Alec Issogonis. Sports and racing car manufacturer John Cooper gave the engine, chassis and equipment a modification for rally and racing. The Mini Cooper became particularly famous by winning the Monte Carlo Rally three times in the 1960s.
Today, the Mini Cooper is based on the Mini made by BMW
John Cooper was a friend of Alec Issigonis and well known in motor racing. His Cooper Car Company built race cars. The Mini was successful and John Cooper saw potential for racing and rallying.
A souped-up version followed in 1961 and the Austin Mini Cooper and the MorrisMini Cooper were introduced. Technically modified and a boosted engine to from 850cc to 1000cc which suddenly gave the Mini 55hp vs. the original 34hp. Furthermore, a close ratio geaEnglish rbox was fitted and the front wheels received disc brakes.
Almost 60 years later:
John Cooper Works (JCW for those in the know) is the party package for the already not so slow Mini Cooper S. 231 hp and 320 NM coupled with a modern automatic gearbox from ZF and less than 1300kg, makes this Mini a true racing monster with which you could bounce through traffic like a marble in a pinball machine. 6.1 seconds to 100kmh, 250kmh as top speed thanks to at least 39 extra horses under the hood compared to the Cooper S. Later the power an S was even reduced to 178hp, thanks to environmental requirements.
Furthermore, a modified suspension, an electronic limited slip differential and Brembo brakes to get and keep all the violence on the street! Of course, special sports seats (a nice combo of Alcantara, fabric and leather) keep you firmly seated, and the eye doesn't lack anything with the bodykit and extra thick rims. In terms of sound, too, a few things have been done, and we are not talking about the audio system, but the special exhaust that crackles lustily and underlines the power even more.
Our opinion
What a fun little bomb on wheels. Very tastefully put together and from the looks of it nothing has been saved on. Thankfully equipped with an analog dashboard which completes the experience. Fresh car with few miles to enjoy for years to come while you still can.
About the seller
Erik, on whose behalf we may auction this beautiful MINI, writes about himself ''I am a true petrol head!!!!''
He has owned just about every fun and sporty car you can think of.
From a TVR to a 1965 Morris Cooper S.
Recently Erik has found a new love: A Ford Ecscort Mexico MK1 restored in detail. The MINI is mainly stationary and Erik thinks that's a shame. Hence the search for a new lover.
Erik writes about the MINI: ''A beautiful, fast and excellent handling hot hatch! One that despite all the limitations nowadays still produces a beautiful sound.''
