Since its public debut in 1979, the Mercedes G-Class has a long history of loyal service and enduring appeal to car enthusiasts around the world. Designed as a utilitarian vehicle for off-road use, the G-Class has seen several luxurious and high-performance variants over the years, while still remaining true to its rugged origins. Surely, the G-Class offered here is one of the most unusual and striking variants ever built. A genuine G 350 convertible with the short wheelbase! In 2011, this G-Class Cabriolet (type 463) rolled off the assembly line. Equipped with the delightful 6-cylinder diesel with 211hp and with 540NM of torque, of course coupled to a perfect automatic gearbox, great to drive on torque.
The G 350 convertible is a car that true G-Class enthusiasts feast on. On its own, a roofless off-road version off-roader is of course great when driving in the sunny south, but there are plenty of times when you can enjoy it in the Netherlands too. They have always been built in the W463 generation, but have remained very rare. The 4/5-door version and a fixed roof was much more popular. As far as we know, only a few hundred G-Classes Cabriolet were built as a diesel. This makes it a very rare appearance.
The short G Cabrio we offer is a real enthusiast's car and, given the price trend and the very acceptable mileage of only 99,000km, also an attractive investment. After all, they are not made like this anymore. Obviously fully dealer maintained, equipped with a few small, but oh so nice, upgrades such as an AMG bumper and grille. The car was purchased by the current owner in 2017 with just 88,000km. He only drove it sporadically and uses his other Gs a bit more often. The car is in very good condition and shows hardly any signs of use.
Our opinion
The last short G-class convertible with a relatively economical diesel. That they came up with it as a civilian vehicle at Mercedes is obviously great. The number of units sold is very limited, especially of the last series. That makes it highly sought-after by G enthusiasts, and it also makes a stir with us. It is also hardly ever available as a diesel and therefore just a bit nicer at the pump. The extra road tax is quickly recouped!
About the seller
The owner is a true G-Class enthusiast! He has several G's and recently bought a new G-Class. Since he hardly gets around to driving (he has already driven only 11,000 km in the past 7 years), he has decided to sell this G convertible through The Collectables.

The G-Class was bought by the current owner in 2017 and admitted to Belgium in 2018. In Belgium, the mileage is recorded in the Carpass at the annual inspection. As indicated, the car has been driven very little and therefore the G Class did not have its next service until 2022.
