Ferrari. Red with beige interior. V8 that revs over 8,000 rpm. Manual gearbox. Actually we have said enough, right? A car from an iconic brand in an equally iconic color. It is not without reason that Enzo Ferrari said: “Ask a child to draw a car, and certainly he will draw it in red.” The howling eight-cylinder, not obstructed by particle filters and that kind of sound-absorbing frills, is a feast for the ear. And that gearbox with that famous shifting pattern and the 'click-clack' sound when shifting gears makes every gear change a party.
To get straight to the point, this Ferrari was used for what it was intended. To drive. We call this 'run-in' for a Porsche from this year with this mileage. With a Ferrari it is unusual, they are often stored in a garage. Not this one. And as long as you warm it up and maintain it properly, you should be fine. This F355 comes from France and has had a lot of sun there. Red cars and sun, you know where this is going. The paint had become a bit 'chalky', a well-known (red) F355 problem. The current owner saw a nice project, his profession being the cosmetic repair of purebred horses. The Ferrari was thus professionally completely resprayed and is as shiny as when it left the factory. It also had a big service at Ferrari dealer Kroymans, of course including the pricey belt change. And the sticky buttons that every F355 (and 550) gets have been replaced.
This red F355 Berlinetta (popularly also called 'F355 GTB') was produced on July 31, 1995 and first registered in August of that year. That means this is a more sought after first model year car with the Motronic 2.7 ECU (OBDI), which had a more spontaneous and aggressive throttle response compared to the later build years with their 5.2 ECU.
The F355 was a further development of the 348. The cylinder capacity of the V8 rose to 3.5 liters and the number of valves per cylinder to five. That immediately explains the name F355. The adjustments resulted in a maximum power of 380 hp at 8,250 rpm. This also makes it one of the best-sounding V8 Ferraris ever built.
The current owner has owned this Collectable for a little over a year now, but has only driven it for a few hundred kilometers. He had the car restored to perfection at Ferrari Kroymans and the Ferrari Bodyshop. The total sum? About € 20,000. A lot of money, but a set of carbon fiber rims for a new V8 Ferrari costs the same.
Our opinion
A Rossa Corsa Ferrari F355 Berlinetta with a manual gearbox and 'sufficient experience' in a beautiful condition. This remains a Collectable that turns every trip into an outing. The design is timeless and a completely original F355 is still a beautiful car.
Garage Queen or weekend toy? We speak to many owners with regret. They had bought the most beautiful Ferrari with the lowest mileage they could find, but did not dare to drive it. Because of depreciation, oh dear stone chips or 'I don't dare to park it there'. And then sell it years later, without really enjoying their Collectable. This Collectable has driven an average of 4,000 km per year. So if you are looking for an F355 to enjoy without all those worries, this is your Ferrari.
Equipment
This Ferrari stems from a time when a Ferrari with came out of the factory with all the neccessery equipment. There is therefore no noteworthy equipment from factory.
Modifications
A 'period correct' Pioneer radio has been installed. Apart from that, the car is completely original. All 'sticky parts' (a well-known Ferrari F355 problem) on the dashboard, center console and at the doors have been replaced.
Remarks
The car is in a very good condition after the technical and cosmetic work done last year. There are only a few small points, normal for a 25 year old car with this mileage. All this is captured on the photos:
Signs of wear on the driver's seat
The front bumper has been replaced with an original Ferrari front bumper after minor parking damage
Small crack in the indicators left and right
Small crack in the fog lights

Waanzinnig mooie auto. Vooral die combinatie van atmosferische V8 en handgeschakelde transmissie maakt het een echte collectable!
