What could be more special than a Ferrari with a naturally aspirated V12? An open Ferrari with an atmospheric V12! This Ferrari Superamerica is one of only 559 units built. But it is not only the exclusivity that makes this car so special, it is also the unique roof mechanism. This example, finished in Grigio Silverstone and equipped with an F1 gearbox, was originally delivered in the Netherlands and has 36,400 km on the clock.
The V12 Ferrari convertible returned after a long absence with the limited 550 Barchetta. This was a very special car, but let's face it: not the most practical. There was only an emergency roof with which you could not go faster than 110 km / h, plus 2 Ferrari helmets. With the open version of the 575M, Ferrari therefore went a few steps further. Once again it had to be something unique, but useful for the demanding customer who actually wanted to use the GT character of the car.
The Superamerica has been given an innovative yet simple-looking roof construction: the roof rotates 180 degrees backwards in 7 seconds and is placed on the (completely made of carbon) boot lid. As a result, the roof does not take up any luggage space and the luggage compartment is still accessible as usual. Pretty practical, the Superamerica.
This construction was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti, the man who was responsible for, among other things, the design of the F40 and the Testarossa. What makes the Revocromico roof extra special is the material used. The roof consists of a carbon fiber frame with electrochromic glass. This also gives you a convertible feeling with the roof closed.
Would you rather not have the bright sun in the interior? That is also possible, because the tint of the glass is adjustable. The roof can block up to 99% of the sunlight if desired. This system was also a first on a production car. It was so progressive and complex that many Superamericas have had to replace it over time. A nice feeling that this was done with this Collectable last year, with a price tag of € 50,000.
Under the expansive hood we find a jewel of an engine. The 5.75 liter V12 got a modified intake and exhaust path and therefore has (even) more power than in the 'standard' 575M. The plus of 25 hp may be modest, but the total power of 540 hp is not. With an acceleration of 0-100 km / h in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 325 km / h, it was the fastest convertible for sale at the time. Another nice detail is the asymmetrical body. On one side an air inlet on the hip, on the other side the aluminum fuel cap.
Just like the previous Ferraris with this name, the Superamerica was built in a limited edition: worldwide only 559 were delivered.
A more modern Pioneer radio with fold-out screen & navigation has been fitted. In addition, a telephone holder that is connected to the hands-free kit.
Both are removable, the original radio comes with the car.
The car is in a very neat condition, with some regular (cosmetic) traces, visible in the photos:
Small air bubble on the towing eye cover
Sticky parts (known Ferrari problem)
Passenger side airbag upholstery shows some curves due to the sun
Front bumper passenger side has a small scratch
