BMW 120i M-Sport High Executive

BMW makes driving great. A slogan this 1-series certainly lives up to! 2011 was actually a sad year. Indeed, after the successful E87 series, it heralded the end of the last fun rear-wheel-drive hatchback, the BMW 1-series. Fortunately, they were produced until 2019 with the facelift model with the ‘5-series’ taillights and sleek headlights being the nicest version. In short, a very mature car. From year 2019, the front-wheel-drive model entered the market and appealed to a new / different target group. Whereas the (unblown) 4-cylinders used to be no streakers, in the F20 that became a completely different story as the turbo made its appearance here too. With that, it became a very pleasant and smooth car and which, with some M-sport upgrades, also steered very nicely. Of course, it is still no 135i or 140i but thanks to a nice torque, which reaches its maximum already at 1500 rpm, it is hardly any slower in daily traffic than the previous top model, the 130i. 0-100kmh goes in 7.4 seconds and at 225kmh it only stops.

The 120i we offer is an original Dutch-delivered M-sport with 2 previous owners, which really has had all the care it needs. The 1-series has neatly had all its servicing and nothing has been skimped on. To emphasise the driving qualities of the car, Michelin Pilot Sport tyres have always been fitted as well and no cheap rubber. Furthermore, the 120i had its last service in February and the car obviously has some signs of use, but otherwise damage-free. The current owner decided to have a small stage 1 upgrade done in 2022 that increased power to 220hp and 320NM. Not that the power was turned on much, but always nice when doing a stoplight sprint or overtaking. For age and mileage, it looks great, thanks in part to just about every option you could order at the time. Nothing is broken or really worn and everything works as it should. 

Our opinion     

Forget the mileage, which incidentally has a neatly correct NAP, and take a look at the condition of this 120i M-sport. The execution is correct, the service history is conclusive and only 2 previous Dutch owners. The car has 3 mat sets for autumn, winter and summer, which really says enough about how economically it has been treated. Everything is neatly documented with invoices and in the car's memory. If you are looking for a very complete and not run-down, but fresh 1-series then this is your chance.

About the seller

The seller was looking for a driver's car and ‘BMW makes driving great!’ the ad said. He came across this car on the internet and it looked fantastic, like new. The model also appealed to him immensely. Saved as a favourite and deliberately waited three weeks and when it was still for sale he struck. This car already felt immensely familiar during the test drive. He could tell, not least because all the accessories were still there, that this car had belonged to an enthusiast. The car soon lived up to its slogan that BMW driving is great. At the time, this car had 172k on the odometer but there was no sign of that. Drove and shifted like new. A special service at the BMW dealer, after he bought the car to see if everything was in order, showed that he had found a fine specimen. He has only enjoyed it for almost 5 years and apart from some minor dings, has not had any noose. Because of its age, a low car is no longer useful, otherwise he would not get rid of it. The new car is an X2 which is somewhat similar only with a slightly higher entry. The 120i still drives, shifts and handles great. Since he would like the car to go to a new enthusiast again, he has decided to auction the car through The Collectables.
