We would almost forget that besides the 911, Cayenne and 718, Porsche has another fantastic model, the Panamera! The tastiest version of the Panamera is the GTS, which, however, was hardly sold in the Netherlands because of the absurd BPM amount. ‘Plug-in cars’ are all the rage these days, with low CO2 on paper and huge consumption in practice as soon as the (often modest) battery runs out. Fine for rundum Hause, useless on a drive to winter sports. Because thanks to this battery, the weight increases to values that, until recently, we only attributed to American mastodons. The Dutch fiscal climate is simply (let's put it delicately) ‘special’. As mentioned, the Panamera GTS, ‘lacks the plug’, so on paper it has higher CO2 emissions and thus financially (as a new purchase) not attractive. Fortunately, the BPM depreciates nicely over the years and you can then bring a really nice car to the Netherlands that sounds and steers really nicely because of its (relatively!) low weight and (optional) four-wheel steering. Besides, fortunately there are still enthusiasts who buy a car based on emotion and not just with their brains. The GTS version is the same for every Porsche. Slightly sportier, everything chrome turns black and of course more power, in this case 460hp and 620NM of torque without artificial interventions from the battery/electric motor and thus always ready to go. As standard, the GTS has a SportDesign Package with a predominantly black front, black details at the rear, various dark exterior elements, 20-inch Panamera Design wheels and black exhaust pipes. Black also dominates the interior with a black alcantara steering wheel and various black anodised aluminium parts. The GTS scores points on handling and overall experience. The V8 is always on point and the lower weight (over 300kg) compared to its hybrid brothers makes you feel like you are on the road with a 911. The all-wheel steering helps with this immensely. In addition, the standard sports exhaust makes for a slightly less obedient sound. The Sport Chrono package is also on the GTS and so is launch control so that the sprint to 100kmh takes just 4.1 seconds. That you can then cruise very smoothly to 290kmh is more of an academic value.

The Panamera GTS offered here is extra special because it is the Sport Turismo version. Only made for a few years and sadly no longer available since the end of 2023. Tastefully composed in the paint to sample colour fashiongrey and black leather/alcantara with chalk stitching. Of course, rear axle steering was ordered with it to make the car drive like a 911! Delivered new in Germany and brought to the Netherlands in 2022 by the current owner who was looking for something really special! ‘Luckily’ fitted with steel brakes, because ceramic brakes also just wear out and are prohibitively expensive when replaced. Expect to pay around 30,000 euros excluding labour and excluding brake pads...... This GTS has only driven 48,000 km and has been neatly maintained by the Porsche dealer. Further equipped with a panoramic roof, a towbar (always handy) and Bose surround sound system.

Our opinion     

Too bad they stopped with the Sport Turismo, in our eyes the most beautiful Panamera and also very practical, especially since the (heavy and space-consuming) battery is missing. The 4-litre V8 is heavenly and provides the real Porsche experience. Perhaps the overall consumption is a bit higher, but the lower weight makes up for a lot. In fact, it is secretly the ultimate 4-door Porsche 911 in terms of driving characteristics.
