Porsche Cayman S (981) PDK

The first Cayman was already a very well-balanced sports car and with the 981, Porsche improved this recipe yet again. And - unlike its successor - this one still has the brilliant six-cylinder Boxer engine. You could therefore see the 981 as the pinnacle of the Cayman line-up. The 981 arrived in 2012 as the third-generation Boxster and second-generation Cayman. With this, the car came another step closer to the ultimate sports car. For example, the chassis is 40% stiffer and despite the fact that the new 981 has grown in length, the car is again slightly lighter. The 987 was already praised for its handling and with the 981, Porsche managed to take the Cayman to an even higher level.
This particular S example is a nicely executed variant with PDK, Sportchrono and 20-inch Carrera rims. More usable (especially with PDK) than a GT4 and actually hardly any slower with its 325hp.  This also makes this Porsche an excellent daily driver. The S offered here is still completely standard and from the second owner. He drove just 1,000 km with it in the past 6 years....... A neatly cared-for car with hardly any traces of use. Everything still looks very clean and cared for. The 3.4-litre boxer engine combined with the PDK gearbox ensures flashy performance. To 100kmh in 4.9 seconds and the party only stops at 281kmh.

Our opinion

The Cayman S is a real driver's car. We almost dare not say it, but in terms of driving characteristics it is actually elevated above the 911. The engine noise right behind your back enhances the experience and the steering is wonderfully direct, making it feel kart-like with still enough comfort. Production of the combustion-engined Cayman and Boxster models stops at the end of this year, so make your move while prices are still acceptable.

About the seller

He bought the Luxembourg Cayman in 2017 as his ultimate dream-driving car. However, life turned out a little differently and he drove it 4,000km in the first year and just 1,000km in the last 6 years. As he does not expect to be able to really use the Cayman for its intended purpose in the coming years, the Cayman is being auctioned off via The Collectables.

The car is in very clean condition. The pictures speak for themselves. Only the right front screen has been resprayed once for cosmetic reasons and therefore has a slightly thicker paint job. Otherwise, this Cayman is in first paint.
