As much Porsche 911 per euro as possible? That's the 996 generation. This 996 Carrera 2 Coupe Automatic has driven less than 6,500 km per year, half the national average. Obviously it comes with a full the service history and has recently had preventive major maintenance worth over 13,000 euros (!) at the Porsche Classic dealer, which included replacing the IMS bearing. This procedure means that the entire engine and gearbox have been removed, at which opportunity the gearbox was also completely cleaned out and serviced.
The 996 range, introduced in 1997, is finally starting to get the appreciation it deserves. There appears to be nothing wrong with water-cooled, all the switches are in a place where you expect them, you have a perfectly working air conditioning and you can really push a relatively modern 911 nicely, thanks to plenty of horsepower, a still normal body in terms of dimensions and various safety systems. A 964 or a 993 were nowhere near that. Moreover, the automatic gearbox is a lot more modern with 5 gears and much less power loss. Therefore also very sporty to drive if you want to.
There is also a risk attached to the relatively low entry price for a 996. If a 911 is bought by someone who saves on maintenance, you end up buying a very expensive 911. This particular 996 has recently had major maintenance, which included an immediate replacement of the infamous IMS bearing. The owner has spared no expenses and had the car serviced at Porsche Classic Centrum Gelderland. Last year, the wishbones, suspension rubbers and front shock absorbers were therefore immediately replaced.
The 996 was delivered new in Belgium and came equipped with many options, such as leather upholstery, sunroof, rear wiper. The current owner has fitted the PCCM Plus System, period correct but newly developed by Porsche Classic, which means you have Apple Car Play. The car is largely still in its first paint (a small damage had occurred on the left rear wing during storage) and is fitted with still fresh Pirelli PZero tyres on original Turbo rims.
Our opinion
A very clean 996, invoices included, recent major maintenance and PCCM Plus.
Black looks great on a 996, especially in combination with the black leather interior and the thick Turbo wheels. Personally, we are not too concerned about the 996's ailments that are circulating on the various (Porsche) forums. We do like the fact that the IMS bearing was preventively replaced on this one.
Warm it up slowly, have an annual service and easily add another 100,000 kms. A 996 is a fully-fledged 911 and is increasingly appreciated. Literally, as prices for decent ones are also rising by the day. And with virtually no depreciation and daily usability, this is the ideal Youngtimer.

About the seller
The owner bought this 996 in 2020 from a collector, with 125,000km on the odometer. He was keen to drive a 911 again after many years and bought the car in 2020. He found it from an enthusiast who was saying goodbye to his collection. After the test drive, the odometer stood at 125,911km. That's when he had to buy it. He drove the car as a daily car. The car has featured in RS Porsche Magazine with a major article and there is a commercial by Porsche Classic Motoroil in which the car is also featured. The story behind his love for Porsche is that his father was commander of the National Police's "Porsche Group" in the 1970s. Martin even seems to have muttered "Porsche" in his sleep as a two-year-old....
