The Porsche 964 combines the best of both worlds. This generation still has the classic look, but has since been considerably modernized in all aspects. As a convertible with Tiptronic automatic transmission, this example is perfect for a relaxed sunday afternoon drive. With an Amethyst exterior and a matching Magenta interior, this car is finished in a unique, yet stylish combination.
The evolution of the 911 had been going on since the 1960s, but it was only in 1989 that this model was thoroughly renewed for the first time. This isn't obvious from the outside, because the iconic design remained largely intact, including the upright headlights.
Nevertheless, this car was a lot more modern than the 911 G underneath. In fact, 85% of the parts were new. For example, the rear torsion bars were replaced by coil springs, and the car was equipped with things like ABS and power steering. There was also an electrically folding spoiler. Together with the new bumpers, this made the 911 a lot more aerodynamic, despite the fact that the basic design remained the same.
In the back, of course, an air-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine can be found. However, this enginge was also new at the time. Where the outgoing 911 Carrera had a 3,2 liter engine, the 964 is equipped with a 3,6 liter six-cylinder. This larger engine sends 250 hp and 320 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. This is enough to reach a top speed of 256 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 in 6,2 seconds.
Two of the most important innovations were four-wheel drive and Tiptronic, both of which were available for the first time on a 911. This particular 964 is equipped with the latter, but not with the first. This 911 is still an old school RWD car, but you can leave the shifting to the car. Perfect for a relaxed cruise with the roof open. If you prefer to shift yourself, that is of course possible as well, with Tiptronic in manual mode.
This example is finished in a colour that was already special at the time, but even more special nowadays. The exterior is painted in Amethyst Metallic, while the interior is finished in Magenta. A special, yet stylish colour combination.

About the seller
The owner of this 964 likes special cars with (very) good driving characteristics. The 964 is a car that fully meets his needs, next to his everyday BMW M 550D. When he came across this exceptionally specced example in 2013, he didn't hesitate for a moment. The color has often been the subject of discussion, but he has not regretted his choice. It was not for nothing that he went for the convertible tiptronic version, because when he drove it it was in good weather and the roof was almost always open. A nice bonus: the color also shows its best in the sun. Unfortunately, there was too little time to drive in recent years. The seller therefore wants to pass it on to a new enthusiast, who will drive it more often.
