If you want the classic 911 look, but with more modern technology, the 964 is the ultimate 911 generation. At the introduction in 1989, the shape of the original 911 was preserved, but in the meantime 85% of the car was new. The electric spoiler for example, but also ABS and power steering. In addition, it was the first 911 with all-wheel drive.
That is also what this manual transmission from 1990 is equipped with, since it's a Carrera 4. We can safely say: a very nice Carrera 4. An understated appereance in the timeless colour Silber Metallic with the beautiful D90 rims and, moreover, in neat condition. Especially if you take into account that this car has covered over 242.000 km. Maintenance is always (demonstrably) carried out at a Porsche dealership or a Porsche specialist.
The design of the 964 is a subtle evolution of the original 911. There are few cars with a shape as recognizable as the 911, so it is not surprising that Porsche changed little about it. Nevertheless, the 911 was considerably modernized in almost every area.
One of the major novelties was the fact that the 911 was equipped with four-wheel drive for the first time, based on the system of the legendary 959. It ushered in a new era for the 911. As standard, the car sends 69% of the torque to the rear axle and the remaining 31% to the front axle. However, the innovative electronically controlled system adjusts this distribution if the circumstances call for it.
The undercarriage has also been significantly modernized, with coil springs rather than torsion bars at the rear and MacPherson suspension at the front. The six-cylinder boxer engine is now 3.6 liters in size, which is enough to produce 250 hp. This makes this classic-looking 911 still a seriously fast car by contemporary standards.
Despite the fact that Porsche changed little about the overall shape, the 964 is still a lot more aerodynamic than the original model. This is partly due to the new bumpers, not to mention the electrically folding spoiler, a feature that can be found on the 911 to this day.
This specific 964 is originally from Belgium, and has resided in the Netherlands since 1992, where the car is now in the care of its third owner. This 964 was repainted in 2015 by a Porsche specialist (in the original colour Silber Metallic), making the car look completely fresh again. This Porsche recently had a major service at Porsche Classic Center Gelderland. The full maintenance history with invoices is present, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity.
The car is in a neat condition. There are only some small signs of use, in accordance to the age of the car and captured in the photos:
Minor rim damage
Small scratch on the rear right side
Light wear of the leather around the seat adjustment buttons on the driver's seat
The lower part of the front bumper is crooked, a common 964 issue (the 'crooked smile')
