Wheels at the Palace

The Concours Soestdijk was (again) a success. We had turned out with a great diversity of vehicles. From a Porsche 964 Turbo with only 72000 km to a GTM (a what??). A Westfield designed roadster weighing only 770kg and 160hp mid engine. A fun and cheap alternative to an Elise.

The classic MB 280 GE G-class and the 2 Harleys attracted a lot of interest. Even the organization thought they were such an addition to the competition that they had to take the stage several times with roaring exhaust.

The best part of the weekend was all the conversations with the "enthusiasts". Invariably, when there is interest in a particular car, they say: "I have it myself" after which the difficult search begins on the phone for a few pictures. But also real serious candidates indicated they were going to register or start bidding in the coming days. Furthermore, we see a jump in the number of registrations of vehicles to be auctioned. Not all of them are collectable, but a large part of them we would like to auction if there is a realistic price expectation. The latter is still sometimes a problem. Usually it is "the most beautiful in the Netherlands" and a "unique specimen" because of the color (only 8 of those were produced in that year and month........) or something else that the owner thinks is special but often does not matter that much. Complete (well-researched and clear) history, not too many owners, acceptable mileage, originality and a nice story are usually the things that matter anyway.

Furthermore, it was of course a great weekend with 3 days of beautiful weather, nice people, good organization and a great diversity of makes and models.

In short, worth repeating.
