The Mercedes E 55 AMG is a discreet beast. Don't let the understated appearence fool you: this power sedan was the fastest production sedan in the world at the time of its introduction. This youngtimer has a mileage of just 76.500 km.
With the W211 generation, Mercedes made serious work of the AMG version. With the 55 engine AMG finally established its name. Interestingly enough, the V8 was not 5.5 liters, but 5.4 liters. Thanks to the mechanical compressor, the M113K produced up to 476 hp and 700 Nm of torque. This was not only more than the direct competitors of the E 55, but also more than many sports cars. In comparison: the Ferrari 360 had 400 hp. The 55 AMG was named International Engine of the Year in 2003.
It made the E 55 AMG faster than any other sedan at the time of its introduction. The 100 km/h can be reached from standstill in just 4.7 seconds. That is still seriously fast today and the good thing is: it has become more and more of a sleeper.
Unlike the modern AMGs, the E55 AMG doesn't shout from the rooftops it's such a fast car. The differences with a regular E-class are very subtle. Only with the four exhausts (now an AMG trademark) this car shows its true nature.
Despite its impressive performance, it's still a Mercedes E-class. That means you'll have nothing to complain with electronically adjustable multicontour seats, heated seats at the front and rear, 4-zone climate control, parking sensors, a panoramic roof and air suspension with adaptive dampers.
Like many AMGs with a low mileage, this example comes from Japan, where it has only driven about 35,000 km. The current Dutch owner drove it for about 42.000 km. All invoices from the maintenance during this period are present.
Our opinion
You'll probably have to explain to your mother-in-law that this is not just any old Mercedes. Once you've laid down some rubber she'll probably understand. The E 55 AMG is a car that can do it all: from transporting your mother-in-law in comfort to winning drag races and challenging Porsches.

Service history
The most important points from the recent service history are:
June 2021 - front brake pads & new ball joint
March 7, 2021 - Boerma Automotive: air valve plug replaced
September 13, 2020 - 70.482 km - Boerma Automotive: small service
October 27, 2019 - Boerma Automotive: throttle body replaced
September 29, 2019 - 54.559 km - Boerma Automotive: minor service
When the car arrived in the Netherlands with approx. 35.000 km in 2019, the car had some issues because it was little driven in Japan and mainly over short distances. This was resolved back then.
The invoices of the last owner, who was responsible for approximately 42.000 of the 76.500 km, are present (see photos).

About the seller
The seller is a true Mercedes man: he has an all Mercedes garage. Alongside the E 55, he and his wife have an ML as a daily driver and an SL 500 for summer days. He finds that he is driving too many kilometers for an E 55 AMG and that's why he decided to sell the car.
