The XKR-S is the brute force version of Jaguar's stylish GT. It's still a GT, but with a rough edge. The supercharged 5.0 litre V8 sends no less than 550 hp to the rear wheels. This example is the rare convertible, finished in Polaris White.
By default, the XK is a chic and, above all, very handsome coupé. But Jaguar wanted to shake off the somewhat stuffy, old gentlemen's image and so in 2011 introduced the XKR-S. A Jaguar XK with the volume turned up to 11. Literally, because thanks to the Performance Active Exhaust, this model sounds like a NASCAR machine.
The power of the supercharged V8 has been increased to 550 hp. That's a 40bhp increase over the already impressive XKR. You also have 680 Nm of torque at your disposal. This will get you to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. It doesn't stop until you reach 300 km/h. Other features of the XKR-S include revised suspension, the active sports exhaust mentioned earlier and high performance brakes. But it's still a tricky little cat, with wheelspin in the first three gears...
No one will fail to notice that the aerodynamics have also been adjusted, with an impressive carbon spoiler, a carbon diffuser and a front bumper with extra air intakes. The XKR-S also has special 20-inch rims.
Despite all the upgrades, the Jaguar XK is still a GT. It is therefore a car that can be used to cover long distances very comfortably. And thanks to the 2+2 configuration, you can still take your kids with you.
Being a convertible makes this Jaguar also a wonderful car to cruise in during the summer. An additional advantage is that you can hear the V8 (which already sounds more ferocious than in a normal XKR) even better.
The Jaguar XKR-S is a rare car, especially as a Convertible. Apparently, less than 200 of these have been built. This particular example is finished in Polaris White and has 70,600 km on the odometer.
The Jag was delivered new at the Cote d'Azur and then moved with a second German owner to (mainly) the region around Malaga and Marbella. There, the current owner saw it parked in front of a terrace. After a good conversation about cars with the owner and a short test drive, he was so impressed that he could not resist the XKR-S Convertible. Following a purchase inspection at the Jaguar dealer, the sale was closed and the Jag was taken to the Netherlands.
Our opinion
An absolute muscle car, but from the United Kingdom. It takes some guts and the convertible version is so rare that we have not even driven it ourselves. But if we watch the videos on YouTube, we immediately understand why the owner fell for it. And that once he arrived in the Netherlands he was a bit embarrassed to drive it through a quiet residential area...
But what a machine. This is one of the best sounding cars ever. Another wonderful example of 'not needing it, but very much wanting it'.

About the seller
The seller previously owned an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and was looking for a replacement. He came across another Brit with a V8: this Jaguar XKR-S. He bought this car during his holiday in Marbella as an impulse buy, after a short test drive and a purchase inspection.
He describes the XKR-S as "a real muscle car from Jaguar, the kind you never expected to see from the brand. The sound is on par with the fiercest AMGs." This is of course a very tasty recipe, but the owner (and especially his girlfriend) found the car a bit too flashy upon returning to the more conservative Netherlands.
So he started looking for a more modest, classically styled Ferrari 612 or 599. Therefore, the Jag can now be sold to someone who is looking for something unique, of which you won't find a second one during a Cars & Coffee event.
