The 2016 Golf VII Clubsport S is the ultimate version of the legendary Golf GTI. The figures speak for itself: with 310 hp, it is the most powerful Golf GTI to this day. In 2016, this hardcore hothatch took the record for the fastest FWD car with a lap time of 7:49.21. To give you an idea: the much more powerful 997 GT3 RS Mk1, Murcielago LP640 and BMW M3 GTS had the same lap time.
The Clubsport S is not only a very fast GTI (with a top speed of 265 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds), but also a very exclusive one: only 400 were built. Just ten of these came to the Netherlands and this example (number 265) is one of them. The car comes straight from the first owner and it has covered only 9.205 km.
In 2016 Volkswagen introduced the Golf GTI Clubsport in honor of the 40th anniversary of the GTI. Later that year, the ultimate version arrived in the form of the Clubsport S. It’s even more powerful, faster and focused on the track. If a Golf GTI Clubsport is a 911 GT3, then the Clubsport S is a GT3 RS.
Whereas the Clubsport produces a maximum of 290 hp in the temporary overboost mode, the Clubsport S has 310 hp that is always at your disposal. This makes the Clubsport S more powerful than the Golf 7 R and more powerful than the latest GTI Clubsport as well. In addition to the engine tuning, the exhaust system has also been modified to achieve 310 hp. This also makes the car sound more aggressive.
If you look in the back you can immediately see what kind of car you’re dealing with (if that wasn’t clear already), because rear seats are nowhere to be found. Partly because of this, the weight is reduced to 1.260 kg. Just like the 'regular' Clubsport, the Clubsport S has a roof spoiler, a modified front bumper and a diffuser. Instead of lift at high speed, the Golf GTI Clubsport S now generates downforce. And it also makes this Golf look aggressive.
From the outside it may seem the Clubsport S differs little from a Clubsport without S, but looks are deceiving. In addition to the differences that we have already mentioned, the car has a modified sports suspension, adjusted brakes, an aluminum subframe and more. In addition to the rear seats, the center armrest and a large part of the sound insulation have also been removed. The list with modifications is long. And keep in mind: this are just the changes from the regular Clubsport, which is a special car already.

About the seller
Huub loves cars. His car history speaks for itself. He previously owned a Delta Integrale Evo 2, a Lotus 340R, a TVR Tuscan, several Porsches and more. He would have liked to keep them all, but unfortantely space is limited. And time (to drive the cars) is limited as well. However, it always starts to itch again. This time it might be a sports car again, perhaps a supercar or maybe another special hot hatch, who knows?
